Your song, taken apart
Split a song in the studio: the voice, the drums, the bass and everything else, each on its own layer, ready to practise with. Try the controls on a demo loop, made right here in your browser.
Play the demo loopMade in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
- A volume for each part, with solo and mute, and one-tap mixes: acapella, instrumental, drumless, bassless, drums only.
- Slow it down to half speed without changing the pitch, or move it up or down six semitones.
- On the Practice tab, loop the hard part of a song and build up speed: each pass plays 5% faster.
- Clean up the voice: less rumble, a steadier level, clearer words.
- Download the mix, any part, or all four at once, as WAV, MP3 or WebM.

Questions
Is Extractune free?
Yes. Every tool is free, with no sign-up and no watermark on audio. Pro is optional and adds HQ split, 1080p video without the Extractune mark and more transcripts.
Is my file uploaded?
Not for the free tools. Extracting, trimming and the free split run in your browser, and nothing is sent anywhere. Two things send audio, only when you tap them: Get the words sends a compressed copy to be transcribed, and Pro's HQ split sends the song's audio, never the video, to our server, which deletes it within the hour.
What is a stem splitter?
A stem splitter pulls a song apart into its parts, called stems: vocals, drums, bass and everything else. Extractune's free split uses HTDemucs, Meta's open-source model, and runs on your device.
What is HQ split and who is it for?
HQ split is part of Pro: a stronger model splits the song on our server, for cleaner vocals, about 3× faster, on any device. It takes songs up to 10 minutes: 30 HQ splits a month on the monthly and yearly plans, 7 on the 7-day pass, and 3 free tries once you sign in. The free split stays free.
Can I remove the background music from a video?
Yes. Open the Split tab with the file in: it comes apart into the voice, the drums, the bass and everything else, with a fader and a download for each, and one tap for an acapella or an instrumental. Splitting works on up to 10 minutes at a time (5 on devices with less memory, 2 on browsers that can't use your graphics chip), and you can listen to the finished part while the rest is still splitting.
Can I find a song's key and BPM, or change them?
Yes. The Key and BPM finder reads a song's tempo and key in seconds, on your device. To practise it, slow it to as little as 50% without changing the pitch, or move the key up or down by up to 12 semitones.
Can I make a karaoke track or a karaoke lyric video?
Both. The Karaoke maker takes the vocals out of any song for a free instrumental to sing over. For a video where the lyrics light up as they're sung, use the Music visualizer: the Karaoke style is free to try in the preview, and downloading it comes with Pro.
Why does splitting download something the first time?
The free split runs on your device, so the first split saves a 90MB audio engine to your browser. It stays there for next time, so it's a one-time download. Wi-Fi is recommended for that first split.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, on iPhone and Android in a recent Chrome, Edge or Safari, with nothing to install. Splitting is fastest where the browser can use your graphics chip; elsewhere it still works, just slower.
Can I paste a YouTube link?
No. Extractune only works with files you already have on your device.
