Questions

How does the vocal range test work?

It listens through your microphone and reads the pitch of your voice many times a second, right on your device. A note held steady for about a second is kept as your lowest or highest.

How accurate is it?

A steady note is read to within a few cents, far finer than a semitone. A quiet room and a clear "ah" help; a phone's or laptop's own mic is fine, but music playing or a noisy room can throw it off. If a note looks wrong, tap Try again.

What are the voice types?

From low to high: bass, baritone, tenor, alto, mezzo-soprano and soprano, each with a typical range (see the table). Range is only part of it: tone, where your voice feels easiest and how it moves between registers matter too, and a voice teacher hears those.

How do I pick songs in my key?

Find the song's key, then move it with the pitch changer until its lowest and highest notes sit inside your range. Each semitone moves the song one note up or down.

Is my voice recorded or uploaded?

No. The microphone's sound is read on your device and dropped a moment later. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent, and the mic turns off when the test ends.
