About WebM files

WebM is the web's own video format. Browser screen recorders and web recording tools save it, and so do some editors. The picture is VP8, VP9 or AV1, and the sound is almost always Opus (older files use Vorbis).

Recordings saved straight from a browser often have no length written in the file, so some players show 0:00 or can't skip ahead. Extractune works out the real length when the file opens, so you can trim it like any other video.

MP3 is picked for you because car stereos, older players and some apps don't open WebM or Opus. If you'll play it in a browser or on Android, the WebM download on the same button is smaller and skips one conversion.

How do I convert WebM to MP3?

What if the recording has no sound?
